TWD: Traditional Madeleines

Alright, ready? This is going to be a whirl wind post. Vacation week, late nights, and lotsa prep still to go.

TWD pick: Traditional Madeleines (check Tara's post for recipe)

Picked by: Tara of Smells Like Home

Background: First attempt at madeleines and first attempt at browned butter

Outcome: Butter too pale, cookies too heavy (but still pretty darn tasty). No bump.  As a matter of fact, I got a reverse bump.  Oh, and no scallop either.

Conclusion: I gotta give this another try only with normal butter for a baseline.

Oh darn, you have to try madeleines again, such a chore :) I bet they tasted amazing anyways!

I think browning the butter may have been worth it anyway...it always adds such a delicious flavor?!

Too bad these didn't come out as expected but at least they still tasted good.

Oh wow, your batter looks really thick. Since most people are only posting the finished result, I wonder if everyone had their batter turn out like that. Mine was real thin in comparison. Now I'm somewhat confused =P

Good to hear that they taste delicious, though.

I am laughing at your TWD cliff notes version. Sorry about the reverse bump (not sure how that even happens)!

Mine didn't turn out so pretty either, but at least they do seem to taste great even if you don't get the batter/shape quite right. Have a great vacation!

A reverse bump?!? How does that work? Great job, regardless. Enjoy your vacation!

Is that like an inny instead of an outie? I'll bet they were just as tasty no matter what they looked like!
